    Question battery question

I believe I have the original battery hold-down "J" bolts. As there are no holes in them to receive a cotter pin why does it appear that castellated or castle nuts are available and sold "as original"? Unless, of course, the Ford engineers had reason to use them, which reason escapes me.

They came with an older version of a Nylock. The top of the nut was crushed to make the threads resistant to movement. Nylocks are a suitable replacement if your car isn’t being judged for authenticity.

Castle nuts typically have straight sides while crush nuts typically have tapered sides, like the ones offered.
