    Default Seat adjustment mechanism

I removed the front seat for reupholstery. Upon reinstalling the seat I find that the cross bars for the fore/aft and up/down mechanisms interfere with each other when in the full aft full forward position. In fact, the up/down bar forces itself under the fore/aft bar.

Here's the bars in the full forward full up position:

Here's the issue, when in the full back full down position:

I can't see any thing that is broken or out of adjustment., but it never did this before I removed the seat. What am I missing? Should these two bars actually cross as shown in the second picture?

The front bar is the fixed frame for the lower section of the seat. The other two are bent that way to clear each other as the seat raises and lowers. I don't see how the can be assembled incorrectly. Does the seat frame go up and down?

Barry, yes, the seat goes up and down and back and forth. But the up down bar gets caught under the fore aft bar, the releases with a bang.

Did you take any of the mechanism apart?

    I didn't but I can't speak for the upholsterer.
