    Default 2406 pictures input and advoce on a car

    Dear all need som input and expert advice
    Was looking on this 2406 / 2007 in germany
    pictures added in album

    some work on it, lots of bondo on the hood and i assume on the body, need some welding

    Not started the last 20/30 years but it turns around accoring to the sales company, bad painted body
    Rust have started
    Knowed missing part
    Missing side trim and hood ornament
    No ac

    asking price 22000 usd
    (19900 eur) still wondering if this is worth it ?
    Need to ad transportation cost


    Suppose part is not easy to find, at least not continental parts / interior
    how about all small parts ? Did they use from standard ford/ lincoln assortment? Nuts and bults screws
    Break parts ,rear axel and suspension parts engine i suppose is standard 368 and transmission

    Will it exist any interchange manual on parts ?
    (Ihave one for GM cars from 50-60)

    On this side of the pond, I have been noticing values on Mark II’s is beginning to go down a little and there is an adequate amount of cars here for sale. In your case, if you want one bad enough, here is your chance. All I can tell you about body filler is this, it’s not that big of deal that people make it out to be. All nice cars have body filler in them. All I would do is pull the dent out of the hood the best you can, then put fiberglass filler or all metal filler to level the dent out. Screws, bolts and nuts are all standard thread and pitch. I could imagine that hardware over there could be difficult to find. Other than that, the pictures you took don’t show anything too bad. I’d say go for it.

    Hello Jonas,

    My 2 cents worth given I was in your position in 2016.

    Looking at the overall condition of this car I would say in Europe you would have to spend far more to get it up to a nice driver standard than you could find one in the USA and then import it. The drive train is fairly straightforward on a MkII and many parts are shared with other Ford offerings at the time (a few are not eg. radiator, brake drums etc). Remember here in Europe any spare parts imported from the USA will cost you near twice as much by the time shipping and import duty is paid. Obviously the bodywork, frame, trim and interior are all unique to the Mark so you want to buy one with those three aspects all present and in good shape (physically and cosmetically) as they are very expensive to put right in Europe. It really will be cheaper in the long run to go this way. On that basis I looked around for about a year before buying mine (sight unseen but lots of photos and research) from southern California (go for a dry state if you can). Do be careful however ..there are lots of scam adverts out there so don’t do what I did, get an independent person to go check it out. I didn't pay all that much more than the 22k they are asking. Shipping and import is actually fairly easy (I used a specialised vehicle importer to the UK and they handled everything) and wasn't that expensive (about $5k including taxes) and as a bonus the car was even better than expected when it arrived, see;

    I really would suggest when remote in Europe don't settle for a tatty example that will be a drain on your finances and enthusiasm. Go find a better one.
