Time for me to put up, or shut up.
I will give $500, up-front, to the person that agrees to my terms.
1. You have to have driven your Mark II on stock brakes for 5 years, so you know exactly what worn or out-of-adjustment brakes feel like.
2. You are considering a switch to front disc brakes, but truly haven't made up your mind.
3. You are willing to follow my procedure to restore your brakes to factory specs, which was taught by every mechanic 50 years ago.
If, after doing all this work and still feel the brakes are INADEQUATE, you get to keep the money and send the parts you're taking off to me, at my expense. Once you've installed disc, only then can you make an evaluation of whether you spent your money wisely. If that's the case I can accept that I lost the bet, if the difference is truly worthwhile to you. You get to be the judge. If I was right, you donate the $500 to my favorite charity, Mittens For Detroit.
Do you have a Mark II that meets my requirements?
