56 Tach cable

Does anyone know if a 57 T-bird cable will work in my 56? Length is same-different type of end at the gauge though.

I would think it should as on my 56 I changed to later 57 dist from T bird & my tach cable went on no problems

The distributor end looks like no problem. The drive gear fits ok. The original gauge end looks kind of like a "loop" of spring steel about1/8" thick.
The replacement is a "solid square bar" type. That's what I'm questioning.
