Hello, my Mark II, #1312, has a chrome air cleaner which looks original. Can anyone tell me if it is? Thanks

Here is a pic of some originals. Yours would originally look like the 1956 one on the left. Black is the original color.

John, thanks for the reply. Mine looks like that but is chrome. The chrome has a lot of age on it but still looks good. I guess someone decided to "dress it up" sometime in the past.

The dealers would add them on the Lincolns, Mercurys and the Continentals as dress up kits

Thanks for this. Do you have any idea how the judges and competitive events treat these? Is a pristine chrome air breather on par with a factory black one? Just curious. Best regards,

Since the LCOC mark ii authenticity guide calls for the gloss black air cleaner, I think there would be a small deduction for a chrome air cleaner unless there is documentation that shows it was a dealer installed option.
