I am new to the forum, however, not new to collector cars as I currently own a 1966 Buick Skylark GS convertible; a 1967 Olds 442 Holiday Hard Top; a 1969 Camaro Z28. I did own a 1962 Trunderbird Sports Roadster. I'm not exclusively GM!
I am consider the purchase of a 1956 Mark II. I have not seen the car although I have had the car "looked at" by an associate. He feels the car is solid and drives well. Before proceeding, I'd like to know how to decipher the BODY SPECIF. plate. It appears as follows:
05-56C-4-914-5
Correct information is appreciated. Thank you.

Dick:
Welcome to the forum. Could you please post a pic of this VIN plate? That would make things much easier. Thanks. John

O5 is exterior Forest Green Iridescent
56C-4 is a DSO (Dealer Special Order)
I cannot locate this DSO.
If you have the VIN, we can track it that way.
Please post the VIN. John

Thank you John. Th fact that the color was changed from blue to white on the 1957 car is a significant "downer" for me. I'm a true purist when it comes to originality. Again, my appreciation for the information on these two cars.

Just put the last four numbers of the VIN and then click search.
Some info is provided by the Mark II database at the bottom of the forum.
Look at the production.pdf which is the production synopsis by VIN.
Hope this helps. John

I'm researching C56Q3710, it translates to D19 paint code, but what color is D19? I has AC, BG DSO and then the word "Paint". Does that mean it was a special order exterior paint color? Thanks for any help you can offer. Bill Patton

Welcome.
To research just put the last four numbers of the VIN
In the forum search box in the upper right hand corner of this forum's home page.

And some vintage pics:

And the advertisement:

I think that combination of black exterior and red with white leather is stunning.
Hope this helps. Again welcome.
