Wiper arm

I'm need to replace the drivers side wiper arm. Will any 56-60 Ford or Lincoln arm fit or do I need to get an exact part for a Continental?

You need the Continental Mark II wiper arm if you want them match.

Many other arms will fit, but the angle of the arms are different from the Mark II. You would have to find something close to each other to make it even close to looking and swiping right. Since they are stainless steel you can usually brush clean them, but only use stainless wire brushes as iron brushes leave iron bits in the cleaned surface and they will rust-up overnight. We found this out when a supposedly stainless sculpture we bought rusted overnight.

I have a totally rusted out wreck of a 1959 Ford sedan in my back yard and guess what I discovered? The OEM wiper arms also have that funny curved mount like the Mark II instead of the typical straight type with your splined mount slid onto the wiper drive shaft and sticking straight out. If 59 uses that style including the wrap around windshield of likely similar height, look for a 1959, or perhaps 58 or 57 Ford sedan and see what you got. Bring your other Mark II wiper arm to see if the splines and shaft match and if the arms vary in the exact length of the thicker bottom part, grab the pair of them and slap them on and call it a day. I currently have a foot of snow sitting on my 59 but THEY DO HAVE THE CURVED ELBOW!! Over the 32 years of owning my Mark II and some of the STUPID prices I have seen for wiper arms simply because some Aholes figure everything associated to a Mark II should have a stupid insane price, one day I happened to look at my 59 and 😱 it has curved hinge mounts🤣.
Sometimes things are hidden in plain site under our noses. If you lived up in Canada with hardly any Continental, or Lincoln or much of anything of this vintage anymore you would.be looking for alternatives as well.
