A friend of mine is looking to buy a Mark II.

The data plate on the car has this on the second line after the upholstery info.
107-5
Does anyone know what this can stand for?

A 17-1 would be a bronze two-tone with a black top, but the Manual says they didn't make one that color. Another typo could make it a 17-10 medium bronze top and beige lower. What's the serial number?
Could be a DSO.

The VIN is 1463.
107 is the production date October 7, 1955
5 is the sequence number; the fifth car made that day
Good luck with the acquisition.
Best regards,
John

color was 11 ( deep gray) with 1F6M upholstery then 107-7

Serial number starts with 0 which is October but I haven't seen data plates with these extra numbers.

I had a 2 tone car (C56B 1991) and it indicated that by 2 color numbers with a slash ie 11/18 Deep Gray U/ light gray L

My friend will buy this car.
The present owner has a restoration shop so I assume the car is in very nice condition.

The seller seems very forthcoming with info also as he has told my friend that the generator is not working.

Thats an easy fix and it could be the regulator and not the generator but we can sort that our when we get the car here.

The car has a newer carburetor and a 57 T-Bird air cleaner. It also has the electric wiper motor os it isn't all original so maybe my friend will want to put an alternator on it.

I considered doing that but my generator works so well I am leaving it alone.

Barry, I tried to respond directly to you and must have done it wrong. See my response below.

I should have put the entire serial number to make it more clear.

C5601463
second line is 11-1f6M (red & white) that is followed by 107-5

John is probably right about those extra numbers being the date and sequence number.
